My name is Irina. I am a Canfitpro certified personal trainer and peer support worker with 9 years expertise in fitness nutrition, holistic medicine, trauma-informed counselling and sober living. I integrate behavioral and motivational processes which I specialized in during my BA in Psychology from York University. I am very proud to be 9 years sober and to offer recovery coaching as part of my wellness coaching services. While at Yorkville University for their Master’s in Counselling Psychology program, I was taught how to explore the the “how” of the “who”: how the biological, psychological and social systems and supports in my clients’ lives affect their identity and felt sense of personhood. I learned that we all have maladaptive regulatory behaviors that were even maybe what saved our lives once, but now keep us stuck. This is the thing that brings you back to a high or low tension baseline. In our work together, we will aim to heal from hypo-or hyper arousal as baseline states. We walk the middle path: where we feel wholly, and neither numb nor run away from life and its tasks for us that day.
I have found healing by teaching my body to trust my direction. This is a liberating process for those of us who had a breach of trust between our emotional and physical body at some point due to trauma. We begin to recognize and feel our power by channeling our mental strength into our physical body during movement-moments: we build alignment in this space and eventually our lives when we learn this skill. Ancient healing modalities always did “holistic” wellness: body and mind embody each other with respect, esteem and honor in a balanced being. This is a thing that takes practice, discipline and work, but can be done by anyone wishing to experience a deeper connection with the precious person that they are. Body and mind are natural allies, but traumas can seperate them as enemies or strangers for a while. This is where many undesireable symptoms of distress come from. A war against our own resources never ends well. I have been there. I have watched my body from 3 feet above and I have struggled with body image issues and dissociation- until I learned that my body is a lovely and safe place housing me, and me alone, and the really unsafe events, people etc. Were never an “in house” issue. I returned to myself and invested “in my house”. Our body is a home for life and we decide the house rules, love.
Connecting to our physical and psychic power challenges scripts that never empowered us. We burn the expectations others had for us, the limits they set for us, the labels we gave ourselves in difficult seasons and we motherf&#ing rise through this work.
I have been helping women embody their strength since 2019. Come as you are. Leave sessions loving who you are!
